From the Experts: Creating a People-First Business Mentality

In this week’s episode of America Back to Work, S2Verify co-founder and chief strategy officer, Arnette Heintze, sat down with Alex Genetti,  head of people at Enable, a global, collaborative rebate management platform that helps manufacturers, distributors, and retailers take control of their rebate programs and turn them into an engine for growth.

Through an extensive career in people operations, Genetti has deep experience in managing every facet of the employee lifecycle, including designing and implementing employee onboarding programs, benefits and total compensation management, policy development, payroll management, HRIS configuration, and employee relations.

That means she has the inside scoop on what makes the modern employee tick and how HR is changing to meet employee demands.

The number one change she sees? As employees gain more power in the labor market, HR is finally getting the seat it deserves at the table.

Where previously HR was simply about payroll and logistics, now HR is a strategic role that can affect the entire business ecosystem. Hiring and retention have become top priorities for companies everywhere—meaning HR is now pivotal to the success of a business.

According to Genetti, HR professionals can use data to further their position within an organization.

“Data talks, right?” she says. “It’s expensive to lose people. It’s expensive to hire, especially right now.”

Genetti believes HR teams should be collecting and sharing data around employee outcomes to show how their work affects larger business goals. Data helps HR get buy-in and investment from business leaders so HR can further its effectiveness within an organization.

It’s all about helping businesses orient around people, first, because—in today’s post-pandemic labor market where turnover remains high and quality talent is scarce–people make or break business success.

In her conversation with Heintze, Genetti walks us through the specifics of how to measure employee outcomes, such as attrition, onboarding, DEI, learning and development, and more. She demonstrates how to use that data to influence leaders and stakeholders to make key business decisions.
