America Back to Work: Valeria Edmonds, ExxonMobil (Retired)

How to Take Action on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Simply meeting legal requirements or creating resource groups is not enough to make a truly inclusive workforce. Your DEI strategy has to start at the very beginning with a program of DEI-focused recruiting across hiring, interviewing, leadership, and so on. After that, the work begins.

This may all feel overwhelming. After all, it’s not something to take lightly. The good news is that Valeria Edmonds, MBA, Ph.D., who has more than 30 years of experience working on strategic people initiatives as a global business partner at ExxonMobil, joins Arnette Heintze on America Back to Work this week.

She offers her expertise in supporting organizations through change, with specific insights into building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization, including:

  • What questions to ask during interviews to promote diverse hires
  • How to make DEI personal for employees if they aren’t personally invested
  • How to rewire our own biases
  • What the SEED Model is and how you can use it in your organization
